Turnils Alpha M Awning System

Turnils Alpha M Awning

Turnils Alpha M Awnings designed & tested in Australia to handle our diverse and punishing conditions all year round.

The Turnils Alpha M Awning System is the next step in the evolution of external awnings, delivering 200kg^ of pull force to keep fabric taut and neat inside channels. The Alpha M awning system, designed for a variety of weather conditions and locally adapted for Australia's harsh climate, provides unrivalled strength and performance.

Advanced technology

Neodymium magnets in both the side channel and the screen guide provide a strong pull force on either side, keeping fabrics taut within the channel. As the awning is lowered, raised or moved with push force, the fabric snaps into place, keeping the awning looking beautifully smooth, flat and taut. The free-floating side channels allow the fabric to breathe in and relax during windy conditions while still returning to full tension.

Inner strength

A tube-in-tube design provides unrivalled strength and minimal deflection by nesting a 60mm octagonal tube within a uniquely shaped 102mm rounded tube. The awning's specially engineered design allows it to hang straight at ultra-wide sizes up to 6.5 metres wide.

Clever self-correction

The Alpha M awning system is intelligent enough to self-correct fabric blowouts back into position without requiring a service call. Simply raise the awning above the area where the skin has peeled away and lower it completely. The strong magnets effortlessly pull the Stance Fibreglass Sunscreen fabric back into the channel, eliminating the appearance of creases or folds.

Keder design

A heavy-duty keder system interlocks the fabric within side guides. When combined with the patented magnet technology, this results in a more durable awning that is less prone to failure. The flexible PVC keder core is embedded in a highly durable Teflon® coated polyester with a high tear strength to withstand harsh Australian conditions.

Covering out of square

For out of square applications, side channels can accommodate 12mm of free-floating movement on either side. The 'doughnut' helps to change the angle of the fabric as it tracks up or down, keeping it straight, tight and beautiful at any interval during operation in any out of square installation scenario. Adjustments to the fit can be made during installation by sliding the doughnut in small increments along the tube on either end before fixing into place. A U-Channel can also be used for larger out-of-square applications up to 70mm in length to provide adequate fixing and a neatly concealed finish.

Headbox protection

Two specially designed brushes are located within the opening of the headbox to prevent insects, dirt and debris from entering the headbox and creating nests or damaging fabric. The dual-brush design helps to dust the fabric clean as the awning moves up and down, extending its lifespan. For ceiling inset installations, an open roller option is also available.

Heavy-duty bottom rail

The heavy-duty bottom rail balances the fabric within the side channels and is specially weighted to provide a smooth and consistent operating experience. The bottom rail allows the awning to remain in any position for optimal light and heat control while allowing for minimal movement during windy conditions. It also enables the awning to be deployed and retracted while in the wind. Finished with a plush bottom brush to rest neatly on uneven surfaces, reducing light gaps and keeping insects and debris out.

Effortless control

The awning, which is motorised with Merger, can be paired with the Neo Smart home automation solution for control from anywhere in the world via an easy-to-use app. Is it getting sunny? Are you throwing a pool party? For the ultimate outdoor comfort, simply control your Alpha M awning system from your smartphone.

The Alpha M awning system also works with the Merger Sun and Wind Sensor, providing added security. In the event of severe weather, the sensor will retract automatically once a high wind level is reached. In windy conditions, it is recommended that all awnings be retracted.
